Professor Irshad Ahmed Shaheen is vastly experienced in teaching language and literature. He completed his Honors and Masters in English Language and Literature from the Department of English, University of Dhaka. He has a diversified career in which he has worked as a Mentor, Teacher, Academic administrator, Director of a Language Centre at a renowned University before his present engagement as Dean, Arts & Culture at University of South Asia, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Related Passion and Pursuit
Alongside teaching literature and language, he is an art connoisseur, music analyst, and a cultural activist. He is very much involved in the media as well. He is a well-known organizer, director, and anchor in various high profile literary and cultural programs on different TV channels.
He is also doing research on the impacts of technology and AI on organic humanism - one thing very closely connected with his main area of interest - the integration of various branches of knowledge on the latest frontiers of human knowledge. He is trying to figure out the course human civilization is likely to take in the near future and suggest ways and means of making positive adjustments to it.
He is pushing beyond the national boundaries to disseminate the unique literary and aesthetic beauty and puissance of Nazul's works in the backdrop of thousands of years of growth of aesthetics right back from the Greek era. He specializes in bringing out the unique combination of Dionysian and Apollonian sensibilities in Kazi Nazrul Islam's creative works. His denotation of the lyrics and tunes of Nazrul's songs is logical and unique. He is an aspirant for discovering the unified sensibility which the poet alluded to time and again in his oeuvre.

Shaheen, Irshad Ahmed, (2018). Romanticism: A Study in Retrospect. University of South Asia Journal, 4(1), 11-19.
Irshad believes that studying or teaching literature offers tremendous opportunities for an individual to grow as a tree from a sapling, have ramifications and provide human civilization with the impeccable fruits it bears.
Irshad believes, as organic humanism is facing a lot of challenges in face of the growth that the world has been experiencing over the century, much needs to be done to preserve the human archetype.
The Ministry of Culture and The National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Institute awarded him the prestigious ‘Nazrul Award 2023’ for his outstanding contribution to Nazrul scholarship, research and dissemination of his aesthetic sensibilities. Alongside his academic work in English language and literature, Shaheen has spent decades deepening the understanding of Nazrul's aesthetic beauty and profundity.
