Dean Message

Welcome to the School of Engineering, one of the most important school at University of South Asia and a great raised area for teaching, learning, research and innovation in engineering education around the region. As Dean, I have the privilege of leading this exciting school, a place where curiosity, compassion, and intellect combine to prepare our students to meet the future challenges.

As you may notice, University of South Asia is going through its own transformation process with the latest vision of becoming a proud, global institution from Bangladesh through excellence in teaching, leader in student experience and impactful research. School of Engineering placed itself in the front position of this transformation process and is playing significant leadership role in achieving new mission of creating and sharing of knowledge, upholding human values and promoting sustainable development.

Thus, at present, the School of Engineering has two departments with a blending of basic sciences, applied sciences, and engineering. The departments are Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Department of Textile Engineering. There are masters program also in this school like Masters of Computer Science (MCS) and Masters of Computer Application (MCA). The school provides knowledge and skill-based learning environment to our students. Over the last several years, School of Engineering has been ramping up enrollment, faculty and resources, making the school one of the best places to study engineering in the country.

SoE also provide a generous merit-based scholarship and need-based financial aid to the meritorious students to fulfill their dreams. We always encourage outstanding students to harvest the excellence of education provided in our programs.

Head Message

I am glad to welcome you all to the Department of Textile Engineering at University of South Asia. After establishment in the Fall semester of 2005, this department is creating a culture of excellence by focusing on 4C Education – that is Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Creativity.

Our Textile curriculum is providing major concentration on:

  • Apparel Manufacturing Engineering
  • Fabric Manufacturing Engineering
  • Yarn Manufacturing Engineering and
  • Wet Processing Engineering

Quality education needs standard practical and real-time factory knowledge. To achieve that we are arranging regular factory visits, industrial internship, visits to the different international textile fair and so on. However, we have state-of-the-art laboratories like:

  • Wet Processing Laboratory
  • Apparel Manufacturing Laboratory
  • Fabric/Yarn/Color Testing & Quality Control Laboratory
  • Physics Laboratory
  • Chemistry Laboratory and
  • CAD Laboratory

We have meritorious teachers who have achieved their degrees from BUTEX, BUET, DU, KUET and MBSTU. However, some of our faculties have foreign degrees from UK and China. Some of our faculties achieved Prime Minister Gold Medal for their meritorious results.

Renowned professors from BUTEX, BJRI, BAEC, DUET and JU deliver lectures in our department regularly.

We arrange Seminar, Research based Conference like Textile Idea Fest and Webinar on a regular basis. Every year we publish our research articles/scientific papers in different national and international journal including University of South Asia Journal (USAJ).

Already more than 3000 students are working with a good reputation in the Textile Sector in Bangladesh and abroad after passing B. Sc. in Textile Engineering from University of South Asia. That’s why we have a strong alumni network which helps fresher students to take jobs at ease.

Getting quality higher education is expensive but as a non-profit university, University of South Asia is offering B. Sc. in Textile Engineering Degree at lowest cost among reputed leading private universities in Bangladesh.
