About Dr M AMuhit, PhD (London), MSc (London), MSc (Bristol), MBBS (DMC)

 

Dr. M A Muhit is an epidemiologist, ophthalmologist and public health expert. He was trained in Bangladesh and England, and has a PhD in public health ophthalmology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). He hasconsiderable teaching experience at higher education institutions in the areas of public health ophthalmology and epidemiology.His clinical and research career has been focused on countries which operate in low resource settings. He conducted numerous investigations on epidemiology, social medicine (barriers to uptake of service), clinical outcome (intervention), qualitative (disability, and International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health), public health program and policy development to control blindness and other disabilities in children, primarily in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).A novel method, the Key Informant Method (KIM), was developed and tested by him and his team. KIM has proven to be a successful methodology, being a central component of social mobilization and engagement strategies, it is responsible for facilitating multiple evidence-based program development for enhancing the lives of disable children.

Dr Muhit intends to play a leading role towards establishment of a rights-based inclusive society for children with disability through engagement in advancing research and enhancing the accessibility and availability of services. Hebelieves that the right way forward to achieving this is through combined efforts in the form of research activities that generate high quality scientific evidence, dissemination of the high impact findings, and mentoring of future public health leaders.
