Business Carnival 2025 Kicks Off with Grand Opening Ceremony at University of South Asia

The South Asia School of Business, University of South Asia, inaugurated Business Carnival 2025 with a vibrant Grand Opening Ceremony on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the university’s permanent campus in Amin Bazar, Savar, Dhaka-1348.

The event began at 10:30 AM in the university auditorium and brought together students, faculty, corporate leaders, and invited guests under the powerful theme — “Stand with Gaza: Business for Humanity.”

This theme emphasized that business is not only about profit, but also about purpose, compassion, and global solidarity.

The ceremony was graced by:

  • Chief Guest: Prof. Dr. M. A. Wadud Mondal, Vice Chancellor, University of South Asia
  • Guest of Honor: Mr. AKM Zabed, Chief Operating Officer, Dekko Foods Limited
  • Special Guests:
    • Mr. Mohammad Kamruzzaman, Registrar, University of South Asia
    • Professor Irshad Ahmed Shaheen, Dean, School of Arts and Culture
    • Mr. Sagar Khalasi, Partnership Lead, Shomvob Jobs
  • Chair: Associate Professor Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Dean, South Asia School of Business & Director, IQAC, University of South Asia

In his inaugural remarks, Prof. Dr. M. A. Wadud Mondal called upon students to become entrepreneurs who are not only innovative but also empathetic and socially responsible.

Mr. AKM Zabed, as Guest of Honor, highlighted how businesses today must prioritize ethical practices and global awareness in light of humanitarian crises such as the one in Gaza.

The Special Guests also shared words of inspiration, urging the youth to combine business acumen with humanitarian values.

The event also featured a human chain demonstration in support of the people of Gaza, expressing unity against genocide and injustice, and calling for peace and global accountability.

Following the opening ceremony, the day continued with an engaging Business Case Competition, an insightful seminar on "How to Make an Effective Business Plan" by Mr. Sagar Khalasi, and the Business Idea Competition, where young minds pitched socially impactful entrepreneurial ideas.

Business Carnival 2025 promises to be more than just an academic event — it is a movement of youth-driven change, led by the South Asia School of Business to create future leaders who will champion both innovation and humanity.
